A not so very nice way to have a tour of any large city if you do not consider time as money!
So, you go to a new city, and you don’t know anything about it because you never bothered to research or you just like getting lost (I do, because it is the best way to learn something, given you have some time on your hands i.e. time != money).
If you have had enough of exploration on your own, try this:
Go to a letting agency and become a prospective customer. They will take you everywhere, the only cost being, you will have to talk to them for a bit and have a look at a few apartments. In the bargain, you may end up liking something for the future (you never know) and to make things nicer, the agents might actually get something out of you in the long run (the reason they might show you stuff in the first place: the shadow of the future). Do not do this too often though because they keep a record of your behaviour, unless you change you name, number and grow a beard/moustache etc.
Ways around this for agents?
I don’t know. Figure out the person more cleverly i.e. know thy opponent.
PS. For the record, I am not doing this, but it just occurred to me while hunting for an apartment in a new city that I am in right now, homeless!
